Lift Evacuation Seminar for Owners & Operators

Sunday, August 15               2:00 – 5:00 pm
Alpine Valley Resort, WI
Hosted by MSAA & NSAA

In conjunction with the MSAA, NSAA and a few experienced NSP members will be hosting a complimentary lift evacuation seminar on Sunday afternoon before the MSAA Summer Meetings & Trade Show kicks off, with hands-on opportunities with equipment compliant with NSAA’s recent Aerial Evacuation Resource Guide (AERG).  This two-part seminar will start off indoors with an overview of the new AERG, conducted by a panel of Jim Woodrum, former chair of the National Ski Patrol and patroller with Perfect North, Mike Lane and Dave Byrd from NSAA, and Ryan Lavoie with MountainGuard.  We will focus on recent OSHA guidance on fall protection, and will have demos with actual compliant equipment.  We are asking attendees to bring their lift evacuation plans to compare notes, and we will go over tips and recommendations, and address other risk management issues related to lift evacuations.  After the indoor review of the AERG, we will go outside for actual demonstrations for owners, operators and patrollers for an evacuation demonstration/drill. This is a great opportunity for bringing ski area owners and operators up to speed on the new AERG and get some hands-on training while they are attending the MSAA conference.  Also, Mark Harper, a patroller at Alpine Valley, who oversees the rigging practices for the filming of the popular Chicago Fire and Chicago Police television shows and other high risk stunts for TV, will be attending (schedule permitting), offering rigging tips to protect the safety of your guests and patrollers.

This is a complimentary seminar, but please register with Jim Woodrum by emailing him at JRWoodrum@centurytel.net (you can also register on site at Alpine Valley as well).  Alpine Valley Resort is only 20 minutes from Grand Geneva, and we will wrap up in time for dinner at the MSAA conference.
